Harkness Fellowship
Dr. Wise was the first dentist to be awarded a Harkness Fellowship, financing two years of study at an American University of his choice. The Harkness Fellowship was open to applicants from all walks of life.

Major subject - fixed and removable prosthodontics.
Minor subject - dental materials
Electives - oral pathology, periodontology, full denture prosthodontics, oral surgery, scientific writing, statistics.
Thesis - The Plaque Retaining Capacity of Four Dental Materials.

Fellowship in Dental Surgery
from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, F.D.S., R.C.S., (Eng), a primarily surgically based qualification.
