Courses: Restorative Dentistry Study Groups

October 2012 to July 2013

Group 2 meets from 8.30am to 12.30 pm on three days
and from 9am to 5pm on the fourth day

Group 4 meets from 1pm to 5pm on three days
and from 9am to 5pm on the fourth day

Group 3 meets from 9am to 5pm for four days


Format

The groups are literature based generating a wide range of discussion. Whereas on the year course specific topics with associated reading are studied on each session, for these study groups a wider range of literature is discussed on each session.

The topics discussed are very diverse ranging for example from adhesion to life management. The diversity of group members means that there is much stimulating input from participants.

There are also case presentations for general discussion. Outside speakers are invited to present for one to one and a half hours at each session.

Professor Dr Bart Van Meerbeek
Department of Biomaterials, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium
Presentation Title:
- Dentine bonding

Professor Marc Quirynen
Professor of Periodontology, Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium,
Presentation Title:
- Plaque as a biofilm, advantages and disadvantages
- Early and late failures with dental implants

• teach an evidence based approach to restorative dentistry
• stimulate critical discussion of the dental literature
• demonstrate clinical and laboratory procedures by powerpoint and video presentations
• expose participants to other clinicians who have influenced Michael's practice


The anticipated outcome of the course is:
Improvement in clinical skills based on a better understanding of the scientific
literature and lecture presentations


Objectives

• help participants with their critical reading of the dental literature
• expose participants to clinical and laboratory techniques
• expose participants to clinicians who have influenced Michael
• discuss a wide range of dental topics


Dates


Group 2 meets: Three half day (mornings) and one full day
2012: September 24th
2013: January 15th, Apriil 16th, July 17th

Group 4 meets: Three half days (afternoons) and one full day
2012: September 24th
2013: January 15th, April 16th, July 16th

Group 3 meets: Four full days
2012: October 2nd
2013: January 22nd, April 17th, June 25th


Verifiable CPD

17 Hours for the half and 1 day groups
26 Hours for the full day group


Details

Half days £270 + Vat to include lunch, coffee and tea
Full days £475 + Vat to include lunch, coffee and tea

To these fees a supplement may be added to cover the additional costs of bringing a speaker from outside the UK to the group. This supplemental fee is usually in the region of £50-£75 + Vat and has never exceeded £100 +Vat

All days must be attended, it is not possible to attend for individual sessions.
If a participant is unable to attend for a session, the full fee will be charged. If we had to cancel a session, no fee will be charged, but we will not be liable for any costs that the participant may incur. We cannot be liable if an invited speaker cancels a session
